Gandhi Jayanthi Festival Celebration
We celebrate Mahatma Gandhi's Birth anniversary as "Gandhi Jayanthi" on October 2nd of every year to celebrate his contribution and suffering to gain our Indian Independence. This festival is celebrated as the third national festival of national ceremonies and festivals celebrated in our country and it is celebrated by all religions. Gandhi Jayanthi is celebrated as the national holiday of our country, and it is celebrated as the 'international non-violence day' around the world.
He is always remembered in Indian leaders, following the path of Ahimsa and Satyagraha and earned freedom for our country. It is not easy to follow both of these principles; And that policies proved to be the most effective methods for achieving the goals of one's life.
His belief on non-violence earned everyone's respect but made him one of the greatest freedom fighters ever to witness. With his distinctive policies, the world's glorified people like Martin Luther King, James Lawson and Nelson Mandela are attracted to his policies which make him to live in the hearts of all over the world.
Today, his birthday is celebrated throughout the country as a national holiday. we will read more about Gandhi and Gandhi Jayanti.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 02, 1869, at the "Porbandar" in Gujarat's state of Gujarat, the son of Karamchand Gandhi and Buddilibai. While studying in school, he was a honest student and married Kasturbai at the age of 13. At the age of 18, he went to England for lawyer [Barrister] education.
After successfully completing his lawyer's education, Gandhi returned to Bombay and worked as a Lawyer for short time. In 1893, he traveled to South Africa for work with the help of an Indian company. The events, which he was ignored and not allowed to wear a turban in court and he was not allowed to travel in first class train as he was not a white made a huge change in his mind.
Thus, in 1894 he started the party of the Indian Congress and he became the president of the party. Mahatma Gandhi, who succeeded in bringing victory for the issues of the Indian people living in South Africa on the path of nonviolence, returned to India and fought on the path of Ahims or nonviolence to attain independence for our country from the British.
After returning to India, he was elected as chairman of the Indian National Congress in 1921, aiming to be a part of the liberation struggle against the British.
In 1922, Gandhi initiated the movement of non-cooperation to voice against the 'Rowlett Act' and the 'Jallianwala Bagh Massacre' and to refuse to accept the lower powers granted to the Indians as per the Act of 1919. This movement gained huge support among younger generations and nationalists. With the victory of the movement, Gandhi emerged as the leader of the Indian National Congress. It was subsequently dropped by the event in 1922 in Chauri Chaura in Uttar Pradesh.
In 1930, the British Government taxed salt. But Gandhi who refused to accept it, decided to oppose it in Satyagraha, considering it as "foreign administrators put tax for the produce in his country." He walked towards Dhandi, about 240 miles from Ahmedabad on March 02, 1930. Thus, they negotiated with Gandhi and withdrew the salt tax. This event, 'Salt Satyagrahaam', was a turning point in the history of Indian independence.
On August 8, 1942, the English government was stunned by his mental and vigorous strength that began with the 'Quit India' movement called the 'August Revolution' against the English state. Finally, the Declaration of Independence on August 15, 1947, by Gandhi's nonstop struggle.

On the day of Gandhi Jayanti, our people will coordinate many prayers and social functions to pay homage to the father of the nation. To honor his contribution to the Independence struggle, artists are conducting exhibitions every year to reflect the policies and methods employed by Gandhian principles for independence. In some places, awards will be awarded to non-violent people. Some people who wish to teach the teachings of Gandhi's life and his ethical struggle to the younger generation in many places.
Gandhi Jayanthi Festival Celebration in Schools & Colleges
Every year in India, 'Gandhi Jayanti' is celebrated on 2nd October. On that day, national holiday have been announced for government schools, colleges, offices and institutions. Furthermore, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) recently announced on October 2 the "International Day of Nonvoilence", which adds more pride for Gandhian principles. In particular, all the liquor shops in the country were closed on that day. Every people in the country greet their loved ones to spread Gandhian morals and principles.
