- Coal Supplies 55% of the India's commercial energy
- Oil & Gas supplies 43% of commercial energy
- Around 65% of India's electric power is supplied by coal based thermal power plants
- Total Installed capacity of thermal power is 71%, hydro power is 27% and Nuclear power is 2.7%
- Oil and Natural gas based power plants account for 4% of electric power output.
- India has a hydro power potential of 84,000 MW but only has been exploited. Arunachal Pradesh has the largest potential in hydropower.
