His next movie was, Kannathil Muthamittal saw him tackling adoption through the eyes of a Tamil refugee from Sri Lanka searching for her biological mother. The film was a critically lauded commercial success, winning six National Film Awards, Ratnam's second Filmfare Award in the South for directing, his second In Spirit for Freedom Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival and an award at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.

In 2004 his next movie was "Yuva" was Box office hit which was made in Hindi and Tamil. In tamil the movie named as "Ayutha Eluthu". In 2007 he started directing "Guru" which talks about the real life story of Legendary Indian Business Tycoon "Dhirubahi Ambani". The movie starring Abhishek Bachan and Aishwarya Bachan in lead role. The movie become one of the Biggest hits of 2007.

His next film was "Kaatru Veliyidai" was an average box office success starring Karthi , Aditi Rao Hydari and RJ Balaji. His next was Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is a multi starer. This movie was produced by Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, starring Vijay sethupathi, Silambarasan, Arvind Swami and Arun Vijay. This movie is a box office success.

Srinivasan who also later produced some of the Mani Ratnam films. Mani ratnam wife is Actress Suhashini and mani ratnam son name is Nandan.
