Gujarat Assembly Hikes MLA's Salaries by least of Rs. 45000
The Members of Legislative Assembly (MLA's) , whether they are jointly attending assembly to discuss the general or people's issues or not but they have joined together in one issue - their Salary Hike. Now the Gujarat Assembly MLA's joined together to increase the salary after a long period.

The Act
Gujarat Legislative Council members, ministers and for the Opposition Leaders' Welfare and Benefits Act 2018 filed by Shri Pradipsinh Jadeja. This law or act was welcomed by Deputy Chief Minister Nalan Patel. Niranjan Patel, a member of the Legislative Council of the opposition, supported the law.
Salary Calculation
In Maharashtra, the members of the Legislative Council are awarded the salaries which is equal to the Chief Secretary. But in Gujarat , we have calculated the salaries on the basis of the salaries of the deputy secretary said, Shri Pradipsinh Jadeja .
A Good Hike
Minimum Rs 45,000 hike was passed by the Legislative Assembly of the MLAs today. Under the new wage law, the salaries of MLAs, ministers, opposition leaders, chairmen and deputy speaker will increase at least 45,000 rupees.
MLA's Monthly Salary
A Gujarati MLA will receive at least 1.16 lakh rupees monthly salary. Prior to that, a Gujarati MLA was paid Rs 70,727. This is a 64% increase over the previous pay.
Others Monthly Salary
Honurable Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Opposition Leader and Ministers will get Rs 1,32,000 per month. Prior to this they were given Rs 86,000 a month. This is about 56% higher than the previous salary.
Salary Hiked From February 2017
This salary increment has been implemented since last February 2017 and payments will be paid. The balance amount can come down to about Rs 6 crore. The new salary increment is Rs 10 crore per annum, the additional cost to the government.
Salaries for MLA's in Other States
2.91 lakh rupees in Uttarakhand, Rs 2.50 lakh in Telangana, Rs 2.25 lakh in Jharkhand and 2.13 lakh rupees in Maharashtra. The states like Tamilnadu, Orissa and West Bengal, also paying a monthly salary of more than one lakh rupees.
Decision after long term
In 2005, the MLAs in the state of Gujarat were awarded a salary increase and now we're offering it. This is a long term decision, why do not we increase when the poorest states around us increase their salaries? Jadeja has questioned.
