The UGC-NET Exam | UGC-NET STATS
The UGC NET Exam which is known as National Eligibility Test has been conducted by CBSE on 8th July 2018. The Examination is conducted on 84 subjects across 91 centers in India.
There was a huge number of increase of candidates appeared or registered for this examination. This year the total number of candidates are 11,48,235 registered which is quite high when compared to 6,96,747 candidates for the last year examination.
This exam is initiated by UGC and later the CBSE took over the charges of this examination. From 2019 onwards as per the press release of GOI, the National Testing Agency [NAT] will take charges of this examination and from offline mode the exam will be changed to online mode.
The candidates mainly take this exam who’s to fulfill or lead their career in the Lectureship or research field. Also, the candidates who want to take benefit of UGC NET Certificate under their career prospects such as getting a Government job or starting their own institute or research lab.
From 2013 as per UGC guidelines the successful NET would be eligible for PSU [Public Sector Undertaking’s] and PSU's can use NET Scores for recruitment process for the posts like research and development, management, corporate communications , human resource, finance and other departments.
This led to one of the major factors for the Increase in Number of Candidates appearing for UGC - NET Exams. The Candidates clearing the UGC-NET Exams also eligible for JRF [Junior Research Fellowship] and it is based on the reservation policy of Indian Govt.
There are two objective type papers, 1st paper contains 50 questions and 2nd paper contains of 100 questions. There were 2028 examination centers across the country. A total number of 2864 observers and 675 board's officials were deputed on the centers to observe the smooth and fair conduct of examination.
The examination has been conducted successfully and smoothly at all the examination centers.
As per the UGC policy, the 6% of the candidates appeared in both the papers who obtain minimum qualifying marks in aggregate of both papers will be declared NET qualified. The certificates to the qualified candidates will be issued by UGC.
